Franklin Lakes firefighters free driver in rollover

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An 84-year-old Franklin Lakes man’s Jeep hit several trees before rolling onto its roof after he fell asleep behind the wheel yesterday, police said this morning.

The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson after the 3:15 p.m. crash on Freemans Lane between Old Forge and Iroquois lanes.

His southbound 2004 Jeep Cherokee drifted to the right and then the left before hitting the trees and overturning, Police Lt. John Bakelaar said.

Franklin Lakes firefighters used a seatbelt cutting device to free him.

Also responding were Franklin firefighters and EMS workers, along with paramedics from The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
