Franklin Lakes DWI checkpoint produces 40 summonses, several arrests

PUBLIC SAFETY: Police issued 40 summonses and made several arrests during a DWI enforcement checkpoint on Route 208 in Franklin Lakes.

Oakland and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office participated in the weekend initiative with their Franklin Lakes colleagues, Detective Lt. John Bakelaar said.

Four of those stopped were charged with underage alcohol possession, Bakelaar said.

Two others — Manuel Feliciano, 58, of Oak Ridge, and Anthony Baragona, 48, of Pompton Lakes — were charged with DWI and reckless driving, he said.

Michael Holden, 26, of Paramus, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drugs in a motor vehicle and no vehicle registration.

Thomas Green Jr., 42, of Parsippany was charged with DWI and no registration or proof of insurance.

Christopher Kelly, 31, of Newton was charged with DWI and refusing to take a breath test.

Charged with underage possession of alcohol were two men from Wyckoff, one 18 and the other 19, and two other 19-year-old men, one from North Haledon and the other from San Diego, CA.

Franklin Lakes police also made a stop on the southbound highway of a 49-year-old Union City man, Lenin Wiesner, who they said was driving drunk with children in the car. They charged him with DWI, reckless driving, failing to keep right, DWI with minor passenger, child endangerment and refusing to take a breath test.
