Born and raised in Fort Lee, Capt. Timothy Ford has been with the department for 31 years. He attended Madonna elementary school and was graduated from Bergen Catholic High School before getting his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from William Paterson University.

While in the patrol division, Ford was a DARE instructor in the district’s elementary, middle and his schools. He was promoted to sergeant in 1994 and served as tour commander before being becoming a detective.
He was promoted to lieutenant in 2000 and then captain in 2006.
His day-to day-duties, according to Ripoli, include the daily operations of the patrol division, administering grants, policy review, and manpower scheduling.
“Capt. Ford comes from a family of police officers,” the chief said. “His father, the late Captain Martin Ford, retired from the [department] in 1985 with over 32 years of service to the borough. His brother, retired Sgt. John Ford, retired last year with 25 years of service.”
Ford lives in Leonia with his wife and five children, Ripoli said.
