Fair Lawn police grab career burglar in dry cleaners break-in

ANOTHER SCOOP: A career thief with a decades-long record burglarized a Fair Lawn dry cleaners after breaking in through the roof of a vacant store and climbing in through the ceiling, said police, who arrested him after responding to an alarm.

Reginald Edeton Norman, 52, was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail after his overnight arrest, just before 1 a.m.

Norman is charged with with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and defiant trespassing.

Officers responding to the alarm found the back door of Doulos Cleaners on Maple Avenue open and other evidence of a break-in.

Moments later, they said, Officer Robert Manning found Norman, of Paterson, behind a nearby industrial complex.

He was carrying $300 in small bills, believed to be the proceeds of the burglary, proceeds from the dry cleaners burglary, Fair Lawn Police Sgt. James Corcoran said.

Nearby, police found the cash drawer, the lieutenant said.
