A concerned citizen called around 9:50 p.m. to report two suspicious men walking up driveways and trying door handles on Heights Avenue, Detective Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

Officer Brian Rypkema and Sgt. Paul Scott responded and found the pair –identified as Erikson Polanco, 20, and 23-year-old Emmanuel Bernard, both of Paterson — on nearby Elm Avenue, the sergeant said.

They were both arrested after the witness identified them and were being held on $15,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail, charged with two counts of burglary.

In addition, Bernard was wanted on a trespassing arrest warrant out of Clifton, records show.
