James Dunlap, 47, was taken into custody following the stop just before 6 p.m., Foligno told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

Once at headquarters, the 6-foot-4-inch, 224-pound Dunlap “began threatening to kill all of the police officers and also stated he would come back after his release and shoot officers in the parking lot,” the chief said.

Two Bergen County sheriff’s officers and a borough officer removed Dunlap without injury or incident, Foligno said.

Dunlap was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with making terroristic threats, hindering, child endangerment and DWI.

The state Division of Child Protection and Permanency responded to headquarters and turned the boy over to his mother, the chief said.
