Elmwood Park police arrest three, seize 70 bags of heroin in separate stops

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Elmwood Park police last night arrested a trio of out-of-towners in separate traffic stops after finding them carrying heroin.

Nicholas Austeri, 28, of Lodi, and Sarah Link, 27, of Hawthorne, had 60 bags when they were approached in the KMart parking lot on Broadway at 10:20 p.m., Police Chief Michael Foligno said this morning.

Both were charged with possession of the drug and of drug paraphernalia.

Two hours earlier, officers arrested 50-year-old John Drozdik of Saddle Brook after stopping him on eastbound Route 46 and finding 10 bags of heroin, the chief said.

He was charged with criminal possession and issued several summonses, including for having drugs in a car.

All three were released without bail pending Municipal Court appearances.
