Clarence Goodman, 53, pushed his way out of the First Street residence after the homeowner awoke at 11:20 p.m. last July 22 and caught him rifling through a bedroom drawer, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

Sgt. Anthony Ferreira and Bergen County Sheriff’s Detective Eddie Alicea took over the investigation and logged evidence that Metzler said the intruder left behind.

A forensic exam produced a match, the sergeant said.

Goodman, who Metzler said fled with a $90 cellphone, was behind held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with robbery and theft.
