Convicted Teaneck sex offender charged with assaulting five children

A registered sex offender from Teaneck abused five different children from three to nine years old — and even videotaped some of them in the act — over the course of nearly 2½ years, a sweeping indictment returned by a grand jury in Bergen County alleges.

William Romero Kooney, a 42-year-old software engineer, has remained free since posting $900,000 bail on March 23, more than two weeks after his arrest.

Kooney was registered in 2009 as a Megan’s Law offender for sexually assaulting a Passaic County girl under 13 and possessing child pornography.

After he was arrested again on March 7, a Teaneck boy’s father contacted authorities and new charges were added, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said at the time. READ MORE….
