Clifton police said they also were looking for the robbers who beat a man on a city street while trying to steal his cellphone.
The 32-year-old woman told police that two men in their 20s -- one black, the other Hispanic -- rushed her at the corner of Madeline Avenue and Oregon Street around 1 a.m. Wednesday, sprayed her with Mace and fled with her purse toward Main Avenue, Lt. Robert Bracken said.
Last week, a 37-year-old Belleville man told police he was attacked by two white men on Linden Avenue, who beat him and then fled in an older model white Kia.
He sustained facial injuries, Bracken said.
