Clifton police Sgt. Mohammad Droubi and Officers Nicholas Hriczov and Brian Carroll spotted the trio hiding behind a van on Norwood Avenue around 4 a.m. Friday, Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said.

Two of them took off, he said.

Police established a perimeter and summoned a Passaic County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit.

A short time later, they found the pair hiding in a shed, Bracken said.

They also found a handgun hidden in a small pile of leaves, along with a loaded magazine and some drugs, he said.

The unidentified adult was being held on $100,000 bail in the Passaic County Jail, charged with burglary, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, illegal weapons and ammunition possession.

Juvenile complaints involving the same crimes were filed against a 17-year-old boy who fled with him, Bracken said.

The 15-year-old boy who stayed behind was detained on a juvenile complaint involving counts of burglary, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and offenses related to having a police scanner, he said.

Both teens were released pending hearings in the Family Division of Superior Court.
