Clifton Police: One Victim Held Up With Gun, Other Hit With Beer Bottle

CLIFTON, N.J. -- Clifton police arrested a Paterson man in one holdup and were looking for two other robbers who they said put a gun to their victim's head.

Juan Almonte-Peralta, 27, was charged with aggravated assault, robbery and drug and weapons possession after police said he hit a Passaic man with a an empty beer bottle on a jitney bus and took his headphones around 6 p.m. Thursday,

Police stopped the bus after the 27-year-old victim got off and alerted them, Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said Friday.

Around 12:15 a.m. Friday, a Lodi driver told police he was accosted by two men wearing masks as he walked to his car on Center Street.

One of the robbers held a gun to his head as they rifled through his pockets, he said.

Among the items taken were his car keys, Bracken said the victim told police. The vehicle was later stolen, he said.
