A 28-year-old ciy resident told police he was walking on Lakeview Avenue toward Crooks Avenue just before 7 p.m. Wednesday when a gunman grabbed him behind and forced him to a nearby driveway, out of view of passing motorists and pedestrians, Lt. Robert Bracken said.
The robber then assaulted the victim, taking cash and other belongings, he said.
The victim described him as tall, black, in his 30s or 40s and dressed all in black.
Three nights later, a 33-year-old Passaic man told police that two robbers with a baseball bat attacked him while he was walking near the Ackerman Avenue bridge, hitting him several times -- and taking his clothing along with his cash.
They ran off on Ackerman Avenue toward Garfield, he said.
The victim -- who was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center with significant facial injuries -- described both as Hispanic and in their 20s to 30s, Bracken said.
