Bogota police say colon clinic went back to illegal massages

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Bogota Police raided a River Road colonic clinic that they said was operating an illegal massage parlor after a worker there placed local advertisements for “more than just massages” and then solicited an undercover detective, Chief John C. Burke told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

Over the last few months, the chief said, police received “several complaints from residents and business owners about people walking in and out of” Garden State Colon Hydrotherapy at 55 River Road.

And here’s the rub: They shut the same business down on similar charges six years ago.

Detectives investigated and discovered that an employee, 34-year-old Jyldyz Usupova of Paterson, “solicited illegal massages for the business through local advertisements and engaged in prostitution,” Detective Geoffrey Cole told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

So a detective from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office went in, was solicited and police waiting outside raided the place, Cole said.

They closed the business and arrested Usupova, who was released without bail pending a Municipal Court hearing.

The last time police raided the business, it eventually reopened under the same name — and, according to one client, resumed previous practice, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned. He said he ended up paying an $80 tip on what originally was a $60 fee.
