Biggest fundraiser of all in memory of slain Joan D’Alessandro

What began as a neighborhood fundraiser in memory of a 7-year-old Brownie Scout assaulted and killed by her neighbor has turned into a massive outpouring.

The Joan D’Alessandro Foundation holds its 4th annual Yard Sale at the D’Alessandro home both days this weekend, and it will likely be the largest ever.

“The goals of the Foundation, which is nonprofit, are to promote child safety and protection, advance victims’ rights and help abused, homeless and neglected youth,” Rosemarie D‘Alessandro told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The foundation, created by Joan’s mother is collecting “used and new items in all areas,” and any help is appreciated. There will be live music, a bake sale and items donated by more than 50 families.

“The money raised from this event will go towards the Foundation’s annual effort to provide Great Adventure season passes for the youth of the Passaic Teen Center and the Youth Haven in Paterson,” Rosemarie D’Alessandro said.

Don’t forget to get a green ribbon (Joan’s favorite color) “so tomorrow’s children will be safe,” her mother said.
