BCC bomb scare caused by ink cartridges

ANOTHER CVP SCOOP: A package that arrived without a return address that even the post office couldn’t trace was suspicious enough for Bergen Community College security officials to call in the county bomb squad today.

Despite the “strangeness” of the unexpected delivery, the package — labeled in magic marker — turned out to contain Canon ink cartridges.

“That in itself was weird. The school uses Xerox,” Bergen County Police Lt. James Mullin told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The entire school didn’t have to be evacuated during the BCPD bomb squad’s 12:45 p.m. visit to the vault-like basement mailroom — just the room itself and surrounding areas.

After about two hours, the squad deemed the package safe.
