Justin "Muffy" Pease, 33, of Stanhope was behind the wheel of his Jeep when he was shot by 22-year-old Davine Campbell in the area of Hamilton and Madison avenues, authorities said at the time.

Pease continued for several blocks before the vehicle crashed into a utility pole near the corner of Broadway and East 22nd Street, they said.

Campell, who police said was carrying 900 packets of heroin when he was arrested at his nearby home on Friday, remained held on $2.5 million in the Passaic County Jail.

Charges include murder and various drugs and weapons offenses, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said.
