Arrest Made In Clifton Bank Robbery

CLIFTON, N.J. -- A homeless man accused of robbing a Clifton bank was arrested after holding up another in Union City, authorities said Tuesday.

Robert C. Hill, 60, was taken into custody last Tuesday following the robbery of a TD Bank in Hudson County, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.

Detectives from Union City and Jersey City determined that Hill also was responsible for the robbery of a Boiling Springs Bank branch at Clifton Commons just before noon on Aug. 25, Bracken said.

Clifton police issued surveillance images following that holdup.

The robber, wearing a baseball cap with an American flag emblem, entered gave the teller at the Route 3 branch a demand note, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.

He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, the lieutenant said.
