Another pedestrian struck late last night received a summons from police for not using a crosswalk.

Ja Sung Roh of McCloud Drive was walking through the Whiteman Mall lot around 12:30 yesterday when he was struck by a black 2007 Saab 9-3 driven by Michael Arabia, 42, of Hawthorne, who police said was backing up at the time.

Fort Lee Ambulance and Englewood paramedics treated Roh and took her to an area hospital, where she died at 4:15 this morning.

Arabia cooperated with the continuing investigation, Ripoli said, adding that traffic police are looking for anyone who witnessed the incident: (201) 592-3700 ext. 5230.

Shortly before midnight this morning, 47-year-old Kanae Sueishi was hit by a 2011 Ford Edge as the driver made a turn at Columbia and Anderson avenue.

Sueishi was taken to an area hospital with what Ripoli characterized as non-life-threatening injuries. She was charged with failing to use a crosswalk. The driver was not charged.

The phenomenon is not limited to Fort Lee: Also on Friday night, an Elmwood Park man was struck and killed after he crossed over the divider on Route 46.
