$65,000 worth of stolen jewelry traced to Wyckoff babysitter

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Wyckoff family has recovered some of $65,000 worth of jewelry stolen from their home and hocked in Hawthorne by a 20-year-old relative who’d been babysitting for them, Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox said.

Sgt. Daniel Kellogg, working with Lt. David Murphy and Detective Sgt. Michael Musto, quickly determined the booty was pawned at a Hawthorne jewelry store.

They found Allison M. Begyn at a friend’s home in Paterson and arrested her.

Begyn, of Arlington Avenue in Hawthorne, was being held on $20,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with theft.
