5-Day-Old Child, 2-Year Old, Guns Found In Paterson Drug Raid

PATERSON, N.J. -- A five-day and 2-year-old child were in an apartment raided by Paterson police who reported finding two handguns along with more than 100 bags combined of heroin and cocaine, in addition to pot and Ecstasy, authorities said.

Narcotics Division detectives arrested three men during Friday's raid at 572 East 23rd Street, city Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

He identified them as Jamar Haze, James Haze and Marc Banks.

Along with the drugs, a Smith and Wesson .38-caliber revolver and a 9mm Taurus arms semi-automatic handgun were recovered, he said.

All three were charged with drug and weapons offenses, as well as child endangerment.

State child welfare authorities arranged custody of the children.
