Pamela Barthel-Faber, 51, of Ringwood, Susan Schoter, 57, of Haledon, and 42-year-old Gricel Feliciano of Hawthorne, pulled money from one customer’s CD from July 2010 until June 2011, Molinelli said. The withdrawals were approved by Barthel-Faber, who was the branch manager at the time, he said. Feliciano-Soto was a teller.

“Some of these funds were then deposited into their personal accounts,” Molinelli said. However, “the customer reported that his balance appeared to be lower than he had thought” and bank officials investigated.

An audit turned up a second scheme involving another CD, with Schroter, then the bank vice president, authorizing $29,170 in withdrawals deposited into accounts held by her and two relatives, the prosecutor said. Feliciano-Soto processed most of the transactions, he said.

Feliciano-Soto and Barthel-Faber also helped Schroter kited checks through the bank from her personal account, he said.

The bank fired all three while a criminal investigation continued.

The announcement was made after all three defendants had appearances in Bergen County Central Municipal Court. Charges include computer-related theft, corporate misconduct, forgery, conspiracy, and misapplication of property.

They were arrested and processed through the county jail earlier this week.
