SOS operates women's shelters in northern New Jersey. The demonstration will consist of mothers and their supporters marching with empty baby carriages to protest what SOS members see as a trend in court rulings to award custody to batterers and child molesters.

As part of the upcoming demonstration, people are encouraged to bring signs for the protest as well as empty baby carriages. Buttons will be handed out saying "The Court is the Cash Register and Children Pay the Price," as well as "Children should be Seen, Heard, Believed and Protected."

Organizers hope mothers will share their own stories at the speak-out, which will be filmed. The event will include marching, drumming, and singing. Those who wish to participate can call 973-831-0898.

The demonstration will be from noon to 2 p.m. The courthouse is located at 401 Grand St., in Paterson. For more information about SOS, visit its website.
