Man, Woman Shot Dead At Hackensack Nursing Home
A 76-year-old visitor to a Hackensack nursing home shot and killed his 73-year-old wife terminally ill wife and then turned the gun on himself, responders said. No one apparently heard the shots at CareOne at Wellington on Union Street early Saturday, July 15, investigators said. The bodies of Michael Zaccario and Patricia Zaccario, both of Wood-Ridge, were found after someone went to the room to check on them, they said. DWI Driver Jailed After Hackensack Police Pursuit Ends In Crash
An Ecuadoran national was drunk when he crashed his Jeep into a traffic signal during a pre-dawn police chase in Hackensack and then took off on foot before dawn Monday, authorities said. Segundo Tapia-Yunganaula, 24, who lives in Hackensack, was speeding down Linden Street when Sgt. Richard Melber tried to stop him shortly after 2 a.m., Detective Lt. Michael Antista said. Hackensack Middle School Student Hospitalized After Colliding With SUV
A young student was hospitalized after he ran into the side of a passing SUV near Hackensack Middle School early Monday afternoon, authorities said. A witness told police the 12-year-old boy suddenly darted across Union Street in the middle of the block near Clay Street and smacked into the SUV around 1 p.m., city police Lt. Anthony Natale said. The impact broke off a side mirror, Natale said. The boy was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with minor injuries, the lieutenant said. The female SUV driver remained at the scene, he said. Police were investigating.
