Driver Wanted After Pedestrian Killed In Central Jersey Hit-And-Run Crash Police were looking for the driver who killed a pedestrian in Shrewsbury, authorities said. The 23-year-old Toms River man died in the hit-and-run crash on Monday, Aug. 5, a Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesperson said on Friday, Aug. 16. Shrewsbury police responded to a report of an unresponsive person near the intersection of Shrewsbury and Sycamore avenues just after 2:45 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Motorcycle Driver Crashes Into Cargo Van, Dies In Central Jersey A Monmouth County man was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a cargo van, authorities said. William Eckert III, 54, of Eatontown, died in the crash on Monday, Apr. 8, according to a Shrewsbury police spokesperson. It happened at around 2:05 p.m. on Route 35, about 300 feet south of Sycamore Avenue. Eckert was driving a 2016 black motorcycle when he crashed into an unoccupied 2019 cargo van. Paramedics rushed him to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Police were investigating the cause of the crash.

Gymnastics Coach Sexually Assaulted Three Teen Athletes On Jersey Shore: Prosecutor A former Jersey Shore gymnastics coach has been accused of sexually assaulting three of his teenage athletes, authorities announced. Sasha C. Raught, 55, of Manchester Township is charged with  aggravated sexual assault and three counts of sexual assault, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago. An investigation by members of the MCPO Special Victims Bureau revealed that Raught entered into sexual relationships with three of his former athletes when they were each teenagers, Santiago said.
