A stop sign obscured by overgrown shrubs or trees is being blamed for causing the crash that killed a 15-year-old boy in Salem County, according to a lawsuit filed by his estate. Evan F. D’Anjou, a student at Schalick High School in Pittsgrove, was a front-seat passenger in a car driven by Dane T. Pierce, 16, at the time of the May 2022 wreck, as previously reported by Daily Voice. The National Weather Service has released snow totals from the latest winter storm. In New Jersey, the most amount of snow from the Friday, Jan. 19 storm appears to have fallen in Hopewell Township (Cumberland County) and Mount Royal (Gloucester County), where 6.5 inches of snow were reported. Atlantic County: Dorothy, a section of Weymouth, got 6.4 inches, the most amount of snow across Atlantic County. Yet another December rain storm has come and gone, leaving many New Jersey towns under water. According to the National Weather Service's Philadelphia/Mount Holly office, between one and three inches of rain fell across the area, ending early Thursday, Dec. 28. The town that got the most amount of rain is Washington Township (Warren County), with 3.38 inches, the weather service said. Ocean County Horse Euthanized After Mosquito-Borne Illness
An Ocean County horse was euthanized after a bout with a mosquito-borne illness, officials said. The unvaccinated 28-year-old Grade breed mare experienced depression, front and back ataxia, disorientation, and falling due to Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), the state's department of agriculture said. This is the third case of EEE this year in New Jersey, the others in Gloucester and Salem counties in September and October, the department said.
