Pair Killed In Central Jersey Crash, Driver Charged: Prosecutor An elderly pair from Maryland was killed in a crash Tuesday evening, June 13 in Highland Park, authorities said. A Mercedes driven by Abeer Viriani, 34, of Iselin, struck a Subaru occupied by Peter Palmer, 75, of Easton, MD, and Carol Paul, 77, of Easton, MD, around 5:30 p.m. at Route 27 and North 10 Street, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Wanted Man Caught By Central Jersey Police A man wanted in several Central Jersey communities was caught on Thursday, March 23, authorities said.  Adam Zakaria, 25, of South Brunswick was arrested at about 4 p.m. thanks to tips from the public, police said. Police had circulated Zakaria's photo on Wednesday. He was arrested along Route 27 near Finnegans Lane, police said. He was wanted by the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office, Woodbridge Police, and South Brunswick Police for different crimes, police said. The crash occurred at about 12:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 on the I-287 northbound ramp to southbound Exit 2 in Edison, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. All lanes were closed for a couple of hours, 511nj.org reported. The interstate's exit ramp to Route 27 was expected to remain closed until at least 6:30 p.m. for the truck's removal and cleanup, according to a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police. Bomb Threats At 3 Walmarts In Central Jersey Unfounded There were bomb threats reported at three Walmart stores in Central Jersey, authorities said. The Monday, July 18 threats came at about 3:30 p.m. at 1126 Route 9 in Old Bridge, at the Edison Walmart on Route 27 and at the East Brunswick Walmart on Route 18. The newest stores, with gas pumps, are in Edison and North Brunswick, the retail chain announced on its website.  They will officially open at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The first 100 customers at each Middlesex County store will receive free Wawa T-shirts. Police responded to the area of Oak Place on a report of gunshots coming from the direction of Route 27 shortly after 1 a.m. on May 16, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Bridgewater Township Police say Nigel Hill, 22, led officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle on Hillcrest Road Tuesday, Feb. 4 after he was identified as a suspect in other home and vehicle burglaries. Hill did not obey officers’ commands to pull the vehicle over and was speeding, police say.
