A maintenance worker will spend nearly a year in jail after he was convicted of stealing $4,500 and a smartwatch at an Ocean County apartment complex, authorities said.
Troy Jones, 58, of Jackson Township, was sentenced on Friday, May 31 to 364 days in the Ocean County Jail as a condition of a three-year probation term, county prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release on Tuesday, June 4. A Monmouth Beach man, who had previously been the owner of a residential construction company, has been sentenced to two years probation, authorities said.
The former contractor pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from a client who had hired him to build a single-family home in Ocean Township, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

Cory R. Cole, 52, of Brielle was sentenced Thursday, Aug. 18 to three years of probation, after paying $8,400 in restitution to two victims, they said.
