Police ID Pedestrian Struck, Killed After Climbing Over Route 9 Barrier In Central Jersey
Sayreville police have identified the 49-year-old pedestrian killed when he was struck by a vehicle after climbing over a concrete barrier on Route 9. Scott Munk, of Hamburg, NY, was struck at about 12:40 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22 in the 900 block of Route 9 North as he tried to cross the highway, according to Sayreville Police Lt. James Novak. Munk had jumped the barrier and was struck by a passing vehicle, Novak said. The driver remained at the scene and has not been charged, the lieutenant said on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The crash remains under investigation.

Central Jersey Driver Sentenced For Hit-Run Crash That Killed Pedestrian On Walker: Prosecutor
A 30-year-old woman from Perth Amboy has been sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison in a hit-run crash in which a pedestrian on a walker was killed, authorities said. A 63-year-old woman was hospitalized and her Sheltie is missing after she was struck by a vehicle in Somerset County on Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, police said. The woman was walking her Sheltie, “Bonnie,” when she was struck near the intersection of Crusader Way and Washington Street in Bound Brook around 7:15 a.m., Police Chief Richard S. A 19-year-old University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth student from the Jersey Shore was struck and killed by a car on campus, college officials said. Frankie Petillo Jr. was struck by a vehicle on Thursday, April 6, according to the college chancellor. Petillo, of the Manahawkin section of Strafford, was a freshman Bioengineering student. A 5-year-old girl was struck and killed while her father and younger sister were hospitalized in a Newark crash Tuesday, Jan. 31, authorities said. A 20-year-old man was struck and killed by a Jeep while he was walking on the Garden State Parkway early Saturday, Aug. 27, authorities said. Zachary Fulmer, of Marmora, was heading south in the northbound lanes when he was hit near milepost 28.5, in Somers Point around 2:43 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota said.
