Fair Lawn Native, 32, Killed In Route 208 Thanksgiving Day Crash
A 32-year-old driver from Fair Lawn was killed when his car struck a utility pole on Route 208 early Thanksgiving evening. William Hennecke was driving his 2002 Porsche Boxter convertible when it veered off the southbound highway and into a utility pole just past Maple Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, Fair Lawn police said. Hennecke was pronounced dead at the scene, they said. An investigation was continuing. UPDATE: An overnight stolen vehicle chase ended in a crash that sent a Paramus police officer to the hospital, three Newark thieves to jail and two department cruisers to the shop, authorities said. A stolen luxury SUV that rolled as a good Samaritan chased it had been stolen moments earlier by two teens who'd broken into the owner's Paramus home, authorities said. Both sides of the highway remained closed for several hours. A driver was hospitalized following a chain-reaction late-morning crash Monday in Paramus. The driver's BMW slammed into a minivan in front of the Brookdale Paramus Senior Living community on Paramus Road between Johnson and White Pine courts. Authorities: Paramus Driver, 77, Crashes Sedan Into Ridgewood Police Car At Accident Scene
A 77-year-old driver from Paramus was hospitalized after her sedan hit two cars, one of them a Ridgewood police vehicle that was stopped following another crash. The original crash occurred Monday afternoon at Linwood Avenue and Paramus Road. Police were investigating that accident when the second crash occurred. The Paramus driver, who wasn’t seriously injured, was issued a careless driving summons, police said. Her Mercury Sable had to be towed. No police were reportedly injured.

The third fire in a little over three years at a Paramus garden center severely damaged a greenhouse Wednesday night. Flames erupted at Denny Wiggers Landscapes and Garden Center on Paramus Road across from Bergen Community College shortly before 7:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly knocked it down, with no injuries reported.
