SEE ANYTHING? A Palisades Park police officer was dragged by an SUV when the driver deliberately hit the gas during an overnight traffic stop, authorities said. The officer spotted the Jeep with its headlights off near the corner of East Central Boulevard and 6th Street around 2 a.m. Friday, said Capt. Anthony Espino, the officer in charge of the department. UPDATE: A vacant warehouse blaze that injured a firefighter in Palisades Park was deliberately set by two Ridgefield residents, authorities charged. What at first seemed like a run-of-the-mill package theft led Palisades Park detectives to an organized theft ring that used bogus IDs to buy high-end luxury cars, authorities said. Jeon Kichul, a 43-year-old Korean national, was arrested last December after Detective David Chun identified him as the porch pirate who swiped a package containing a baseball glove from outside a resident’s home, Capt. A Palisades Park police sergeant accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a borough resident was suspended from his job, authorities said Thursday. The police department received a complaint from a resident saying Christopher Sambogna, 50, stole $10,000 for them, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Police asked the public for help finding the hit-run driver who struck and injured a 19-year-old North Bergen woman with his SUV as she crossed a notorious Palisades Park intersection. “I don’t want to die,” a mortally wounded Tommy Johnston told his friend Yang Chung after they and two other Palisades Park High School football players were stabbed on Broad Avenue the night before Labor Day 1992.
