A firefighter was injured while battling a fire that destroyed a house in Toms River, emergency officials said. Crews responded to the fire at a home on Bergen Avenue at around 2:04 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 9, the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention said in a news release. The fire was on the second floor of the house. A firefighter suffered a minor injury when falling at the fire scene. The firefighter was brought to the hospital to be evaluated. Firefighters Quickly Douse Blaze On Jersey Shore
A family safely escaped a house fire in Howell, but a firefighter was injured, authorities said. The fire broke out at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at 948 Route 33, Howell police said. A 9-1-1 call was placed by an Eatontown firefighter who observed smoke coming from the residence. A firefighter was hurt while battling a third-alarm strip mall blaze in Parsippany overnight Tuesday. The fire broke out at Green Hill Plaza on Parsippany Road around 12:45 a.m., according to the Parsippany Police Department. A predawn fire Monday destroyed an unoccupied Passaic multi-family home, damaged another next door and sent a firefighter to the hospital. Eleven people in all were displaced, Mayor Hector Carlos Lora said. Fire gutted two Clifton homes and damaged another, injuring a firefighter and displacing at least nine people, responders said. The injury wasn’t considered life-threatening, they said. An apartment house fire in Edison destroyed 11 apartments, ousting at least 35 tenants from their units, authorities said. Flames were shooting through the roof of the Parsonage Road building when firefighters arrived around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
