Train Death Reported On Journal Square PATH tracks A woman was struck and killed by a PATH train at Journal Square, authorities said. The person was struck by a westbound train and pronounced dead at the station in Jersey City shortly after midnight Monday, Jan. 22, said Lenis Valens of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The authority's Emergency Services Unit, Jersey City firefighters and an EMS unit were among the responders, Valens said. He was 52 years old. “Alex was kind, patient, soft-spoken and genuine," Chief Nichelle Luster said. "Alex was a good person and an exceptional officer and I know we will all remember him fondly.” Ruperto of Glen Ridge graduate from Emerson High School in 1986, and then the Bergen County Police Academy (Class No. 82) in 1999.
