A piece of metal flew through the windshield of a car in Mercer County, killing a passenger from Camden County, authorities said. Steven Bradshaw, 39, of Audubon, died after the object hit the hood of a Toyota and ricocheted inside, according to Detective Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police. A skydiver was flown to an area hospital with injuries suffered in an accident at a New Jersey airport over the weekend. New Jersey State Police said only that the accident happened around 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5 in a wooded swamp north of the Sussex County Airport in Wantage. Chicken Waste Spill Causes HazMat Situation Along South Jersey Highway
A trailer hauling chicken waste products crashed, spilling its contents all over Route 55 and causing a HazMat situation in Gloucester County on Monday, Feb. 27. The northbound side of the roadway was closed in Deptford from mile marker 59.2 to the Route 42 interchange following the 9 a.m. crash. The roadway had reopened as of 1:45 p.m., but crews were still on scene for cleanup. HazMat crews, the New Jersey State Police, NJDOT, and multiple fire departments were on scene. Environmental services were notified and were monitoring the incident. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters rescued a 38-year-old man who fell down an elevator shaft Thursday, Feb. 2 in Somerset County, authorities said. Responders found the Watchung man stuck in a building on Mettlers Road around 2:30 p.m. in Franklin Township, township police Lt. Vincent T. Wilson said. The victim was removed but had suffered multiple injuries, and was taken to the hospital by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital BLS and ALS. The building was ordered to be evacuated by the Franklin Township fire marshal and fire inspectors and the building will be closed pending an OSHA investigation.
