Unconscious Driver Freed By Firefighters In Route 17 Wreck
Firefighters in Bergen County freed an unconscious driver from a vehicle following a crash on Route 17 on Saturday, Oct. 5. Hasbrouck Heights firefighters were called to the two-vehicle crash at Williams Avenue in the southbound lanes around 6 p.m., they said. Photos from the scene show the crash involved a Jeep Grand Cherokee and some other type of SUV. Crews stabilized the vehicle and extricated the patient, firefighters said in a release. North Hudson Fire Official, Sister Arrested After Domestic Dispute Allegedly Gets Physical
A North Jersey fire official and his sister were taken into custody after a dispute allegedly got physical, multiple responders have confirmed. Police charged both Kevin Todd, 58, and Monica Todd Lanzara, 57, with simple assault following the incident at their parent's home on Williams Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Lanzara said she independently went to a CityMD in Teterboro on Thursday, rather than a hospital emergency room on Wednesday, and was diagnosed with fractured ribs. Call Of Masturbator Outside Hasbrouck Heights Building Leads To Arrest Of Bronx Resident
Police responding to a 911 call of a suspicious man in front of a Hasbrouck Heights apartment building arrested a Bronx resident who they said was carrying a kitchen knife and some cocaine. An officer responded to the Heights Apartments, at the corner of Williams and Burton avenues, on a call of a man who "appeared to be masturbating" outside shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, according to a police report. The officer arrested Brandon Rivera, 32, after reportedly finding the knife and coke. Rivera remained held Friday in the Bergen County Jail, charged with drug and weapons possession.

A residential garage fire right next to a Hasbrouck Heights gas station prompted temporary evacuations Thursday afternoon. Concerns were raised over possible propane tanks igniting, but borough firefighters doused the blaze in minutes. Hasbrouck Heights PD: Garfield Driver Who Crashed Twice Was 3X Over Legal Limit
A drunken Garfield driver registered more than three times the legal limit on a blood-alcohol test after crashing his car twice in the span of a couple of blocks in Hasbrouck Heights, authorities said. Edward Luna, 33, kept driving after his Jeep struck a retaining wall on Prospect Street shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri Jr. said. The northbound lanes of Rt. 17 near Williams Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights were shut down around noon Tuesday due to a transformer fire, the state Department of Transportation said. Police requested PSEG to respond on a rush. The roadway was reopened about an hour later.

North Arlington Man, 59, Struck By Car Driven By Lodi Motorist In Hasbrouck Heights
A 59-year-old North Arlington man was hospitalized with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening after a car struck him in a Hasbrouck Heights crosswalk early Tuesday, authorities said. The pedestrian was crossing Boulevard around 8 a.m. when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Lodi motorist making a left turn off Williams Avenue, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri Jr. said. She received a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian. The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. Hasbrouck Heights police and ambulance responded, along with medics.
