LA Fitness Stabbing: Boxcutter-Wielding Suspect From Union County In Custody, Cops Say
A 22-year-old Scotch Plains resident was arrested and charged on Monday, Sept. 9, with attempted murder after he stabbed another man with a boxcutter at an LA Fitness in Clark on Sunday, authorities said.
Officers responded to the LA Fitness at 1255 Raritan Rd. and located the victim, while the perpetrator, Antonio Lampon, fled from the scene before law enforcement arrived, Clark police said in a release. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released, police said.

An Elizabeth man has been arrested on accusations he bludgeoned a woman to death over the weekend, authorities announced.
Victor H. Rodriguez Gomez, 33, struck 30-year-old Carmen Lopez Barahona in the head, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl J. Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca said.
Barahona was found around 2 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 on the the 200 block of Lt. Glenn Zamorski Drive, and Gomez had fled the scene, police said.

Tyrell "Hell Rell" Wilson, 36, of Rahway, must serve out just about all of the sentence because there's no parole in the federal prison system.

A prisoner at the Essex County Jail was charged with murder for the stabbing death of another inmate, authorities announced.
Ashton D. Barthelus, 26, of Carteret, stabbed Dan G. Milford Gelin, 27, of Elizabeth, at the correctional facility last week, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said.

A 19-year-old Cranford man has been charged with breaking into several of township police vehicles last month, taking bulletproof vests, a gear bag and more, authorities said.
Jake Fichiera broke the back windows of six vehicles parked overnight near the municipal building on July 28, police said.
