ID Of Tow Truck Operator Killed By Passing Car On Route 19 Released
A tow truck operator was killed by a passing vehicle on Route 19 over the weekend, authorities said. Manuel Perez, 64, was trying to hook another vehicle to his truck on the southbound side of the highway when he was struck by a Toyota sedan that then struck the tow truck and overturned around 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at milepost 2-3, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. Perez was pronounced dead and the driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This investigation is active and ongoing. Crash Investigation Shuts Routes 19, 80 In Paterson
A crash investigation closed a portion of Route 19 and Route 80 on Sunday morning, Nov. 3 in Paterson, the NJDOT site shows. The crash happened around 11 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 19, south of Route 80. All lanes were closed as of press time. The eastbound lanes of Route 80 at Exit 57 were also closed.

An 18-year-old US Marine cadet who was struck last April in a hit-and-run crash on Route 1&9 has died. Rayan Bien-Aima was crossing the street at Aviation Plaza north, around 11:15 p.m. Monday, April 25, Linden Police Capt. Christopher Guenther said. Fire Investigators Examine Fort Lee House Blaze
Firefighters contained a Fort Lee house blaze to a front bedroom after a passing lieutenant saw smoke. Fire Lt. Phil Craddock was driving on the Route 1&9 overpass around 4:45 p.m. Monday when he spotted the smoke coming from the two-story home at 2068 Jones Road just below. Firefighters knocked the blaze down in under a half hour. No injuries were reported. The rest of the house beyond the fire room sustained smoke, water and ventilation damage. Man Dies In Single-Car Crash On Route 1&9 Near Newark Airport
A man died in a crash on Route 1&9 Wednesday evening near Newark International Airport. The single-car crash occurred just before 6 p.m. under the McClellan Street underpass, and the adult male driver was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. Fort Lee PD: Driver, Two Passengers Flee After Sedan Overturns, Slides 100 Feet Near GWB
The driver and two passengers got out and ran after their car overturned and slid 100 yards, a witness told Fort Lee police. The 2003 Chevrolet Impala was headed south on Route 1&9 when it hit the median opposite the Dunkin Donuts, rolled over and slid 300 feet into the right lane just after 12:30 p.m., Capt.
