'Are You Will?' Popular Cliffside Barber Beaten By Stranger, Manhunt Continues
A well-known barber was attacked in his Cliffside Park shop by a stranger, said authorities who are trying to identify his assailant. The attacker entered The Way Barber Shop on Anderson Avenue across from the NJ TRANSIT bus garage shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, Cliffside Park Deputy Police Chief Vincent Capano said. He was white and wearing a black coat and black hat, the deputy chief said. He approached owner Willie Ocampo, 42, and asked "Are you Will?" Firefighters Battle Vacant Building Blaze On Frequently Struck Paterson Street
A Paterson street that's had more than its share of late-night fires in multi-family houses had another last night. Flames began quickly spreading on the second floor of a vacant 2½-story building on Lafayette Street just off Rosa Parks Boulevard shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, responders said. UPDATE: The victim of a fatal commuter train strike in Fair Lawn on Thursday was a township teenager, sources with direct knowledge of the incident said. The 16-year-old boy, who was in the 11th grade, was pronounced dead at the scene, they said. Woman Fatally Struck By NJ Transit Train
A woman was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train this weekend in Union County, officials said. The unidentified woman was near the North Elizabeth station when she was struck by train No. 7844 at approximately 4 p.m., a spokesperson for NJ Transit said. The train had left Trenton just before 3 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at NY Penn Station that evening. None of the passengers or crew members were injured. A serial porch pirate from East Rutherford who'd been busted before for stealing packages from fellow borough residents was at it again, police said.
