Gotcha! Leonia Officer Quickly Finds Familiar Face Who Fled Traffic Stop: Police
A repeat offender who might’ve thought he’d given a Leonia police sergeant the slip would've been wrong.
It began when Leonia Police Sgt. Ray Forsdahl tried to stop a BMW with New York plates for a violation in the area of Broad and Lakeview avenues, Capt. Chris Garris said.
The driver kept going, though, getting onto southbound Route 95, the captain said on Friday, Dec. 1.
Forsdahl pursued him for a ways, then dropped back out of safety reasons, he said.
Besides, he knew who the driver was.
Didn’t take long to figure out where he laid his head, either.

Gotcha! Lyndhurst Detectives Crash Home Burglary, Nab Local Couple
A Lyndhurst couple had just broken into a local home when they were seized by a pair of township detectives.
Daniel Soto, 22, and Nicolette Greco, 25, didn't see Lyndhurst Police Detective Chris Cuneo watching them case the unoccupied Kingsland Avenue home around 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said.
Detective Nick Abruscato had joined Cuneo when the couple slipped around to the side of the house and momentarily out of sight, the lieutenant said.
The detectives followed and found a broken basement window, Auteri said.

Repeat-Offending Ex-Con, Partner Caught Burglarizing Vehicles In Wayne: PD
A repeat-offending ex-con who tried to become something of a jailhouse lawyer was caught in the act of burglarizing vehicles in Wayne after a woman he was with spilled the beans, authorities said.
Responding to multiple calls, Sgt. Mark CIavirella found a 2014 Chevy Traverse occupied by Melissa Ashmead, 42, of North Brunswick, in the area of New Street where the complaints originated, Capt. Dan Daly said.
Why and how she ended up there didn't jibe, the captain said.
It didn't take long to tie her and Moises Echevarria, 43, of Paterson, to the vehicle break-ins, he said.

Hackensack PD: Officers Nab Out-Of-State Burglar In The Act
A business burglar caught in the act by Hackensack police before dawn is suspected in a number of other area break-ins, as well, authorities said.
Adebayo Adedoyin, 26, of Staten Island was seized on the premises of the Myer Street business by Officers Michael Scangarella, Aaron Rios, Ben Farhi, and Michael Koenig around 5 a.m. New Year’s Eve, said Capt. Michael Antista, the officer in charge of the department.
Adedoyin, who is unemployed, had items he’d stolen from five of its vehicles along with burglary tools, the captain said.

Taser-Armed Target Shoplifter Cornered, Captured By Closter Police: Authorities
A possibly armed shoplifter who was confronted by police outside a Target in Closter dropped two bundles of merchandise and took off on foot, authorities said.
Keith Primm, 29, of the Bronx had just exited the Closter Plaza store when the officers pulled up, Lt. Vincent Aiello said.
A caller had told police that Primm, who was also carrying a backpack, was “possibly displaying a weapon,” the lieutenant added.
Primm told the responding officers that he’d bought the items in the bags, then dropped them and ran towards Vervalen Street, Aiello said.

Officers responding to a theft in progress on East 4th Street stopped a fleeing Kia in Paterson and arrested the lone occupant, Pedro Mirben-Feliz, 26, of Brooklyn around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.
A second vehicle, an Acura TL, crashed on Route 3 in Secaucus, where police arrested three occupants -- driver Juan Ortegalazala, 29, of the Bronx and passengers Yheremy Santana, 22, and Angel Batista, 18, both of Jersey City, the lieutenant said.

Fort Lee PD: Ex-Con Busted With Pills, Imitation Gun, Cash
An ex-con from Fort Lee was busted with dozens of prescription pills, an imitation handgun and more than $5,000 in illicit proceeds, authorities said.
Francisco Holguin, 32, was the subject of an investigation that eventually led to his arrest outside his apartment on Main Street between Jones Road and Maple Street, Fort Lee Police Capt. Edward Young said.
Holguin was charged with drug and weapons offenses, including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Ex-Con Charged With Sexually Assaulting Englewood Toddler
A habitual offender who has benefitted from bail reform was charged with sexually assaulting a toddler in Englewood, authorities said.
Ex-con Joshua Foster -- who, at 25 years old, already has an extensive criminal history -- is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, child endangerment and possession of child pornography, among other offenses.
Foster, an Englewood native most recently of East Orange, has remained held in the Bergen County Jail since his arrest on Saturday morning, Sept. 3, records show.

Police: Bergenfield Girl, 16, Groped On Borough Street, Arrest Made
A Bergenfield teen claimed that she was groped on a local street by a man whom police arrested a short time later.
The girl, 16, told them she was walking on Wilbur Road when she was approached near Quincy Lane by a man who grabbed her breasts over her top and fled around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Detective Lt. William Duran said.
