Bergen County Rooftop Burglar Arrested By Nypd: Cops
A 40-year-old Westchester County, NY man was arrested in Bergen County, NJ after police linked him to a string of commercial burglaries, they said.
Marlon A. Stewart, of Mount Vernon, burglarized three commercial properties from the roof in Closter overnight on Aug. 29, Closter Police Capt. Vincent Aiello said.
In one incident, Stewart removed a large safe and threw it out of a second-floor window and into the borough parking lot, Aiello said.

Officer Nabs Gang Of Four Fleeing Willowbrook Shoplifting Spree: Wayne Police
A quartet of New Yorkers who went on a shoplifting spree at a bunch of Willowbrook Mall stores were headed north when a Wayne police officer stopped them, authorities said.
The crew fled the mall with more than $5,000 worth of assorted stolen merchandise – with security tags still attached – from Express, Forever 21, GAP, H&M, Hollister, Old Navy, Pacsun, and Zara – Detective Capt. Dan Daly said.
Officer Michael McLaughlin stopped their 2004 Jeep Liberty with Connecticut license plates at Valley Road and Mac Donald Drive moments later, the captain said.

Driver Who Sped Away From Trooper Crashes, Suffers Serious Injuries On NJ Turnpike (Update)
A 49-year-old man from New York who was stopped in the shoulder of the New Jersey Turnpike was seriously injured when he suddenly sped away from the trooper checking on him, hitting another vehicle Sunday morning, May 14, authorities said.
The man was stopped in a Honda Accord on the shoulder near milepost 54.2 in Bordentown, when a trooper came over to check on him around 10:35 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry said.
Suddenly, the Accord sped off, crossing from the outer roadway to the inner roadway, striking the passenger side of a Honda Odyssey, police said.

Two men went on a violent armed robbery spree in Bergen and Passaic counties -- beating one victim, throwing hot coffee in another’s face and threatening others with a knife -- before they were captured, authorities said.
Asbiel Feliz, 23, of Mount Vernon was being held in the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla and Ricky Quesada, 24, in the Manhattan Detention Center following their arrests, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Monday.

A trio of tri-state liquor thieves – two from Westchester and one from Brooklyn -- were caught stealing more than $10,000 worth of booze from the Stew Leonard’s store in Paramus, authorities said.
Richard Craig Caldwell, 54, Brooklyn, Yolanda Emery, 60, of Yonkers, and Tonya Hanner, 53, of Mount Vernon, snatched at least 136 bottles of alcohol combined over an 11-day stretch of brazen thefts last month, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.

The theft of $40,000 of jewelry from a Bergen County store was directed by a Westchester gang leader who was sentenced Thursday to 40 years in federal prison for killing two rivals just months earlier, authorities said.
