Since September, Ridgewood has reported 19 cases. Drugged Newark Man, 26, Walks Into Ridgewood School RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – Amid mounting reports of potential threats to schools and finding ways of keeping danger from getting in, a Ridgewood school had an alarming visitor of its own. One night last week, a 26-year-old Newark man under the influence of some type of drug walked into the Hawes Elementary School and asked for directions Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke revealed Thursday. Employees gave him directions and immediately called police, who found the stranger knocking over trash and recycling cans in the area, the chief said.
