Authorities: Wanted Shooter Reaches For Gun, Subdued By Paterson Police
Paterson police avoided a tragedy when they subdued a wanted city man who tried to pull a gun on them as they moved in to arrest him for a shooting, authorities said. Police began searching for Yusef M. Page, 18, shortly after the 24-year-old victim from Hillside was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center at 1:20 p.m. Saturday with a non-fatal wound from a shooting on Broadway. Three 14-Year-Old Boys Grazed By Gunfire In Violent Paterson Neighborhood
Three 14-year-old Paterson boys shot in one of the city’s most violent, drug-infested areas sustained only superficial wounds, authorities said. The boy were struck in the area of Hamilton Avenue and Summer Street shortly before 8:45 p.m. Monday, they said. Paterson PD: Ex-Con Drug Dealer Tosses Gun, Caught Scaling Fence
An ex-con drug dealer tossed a stolen handgun during a foot chase and was nabbed trying to scale a backyard fence, Paterson police said. Responding to the 2:50 p.m. gun call at Rosa Parks Boulevard and Hamilton Avenue were Officer Ernest Lemay, Detective Michael Quinones and county prosecutor’s Detective Ricardo Ferreira of the Special Investigations Division Ceasefire Unit. Paterson Detectives Chase Down Ex-Con, Seize 6,250 Bags Of Heroin, Drug Cash
Paterson detectives seized 6,250 bags of heroin and $1,600 in drug proceeds after chasing down an ex-con who fled during an attempted traffic stop, authorities said. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Cequan Wharton of Paterson, bolted through several Lake Street backyards before a trio of city detectives nabbed him emerging onto Summer Street following the Sunday night stop. A 15-year-old boy was expected to survive after being shot Saturday night in Paterson, authorities said.
