Hawthorne Police Nab Northbound NY Trio With Nearly 350 Heroin Bags
A Hawthorne police officer nabbed a northbound New York State trio with 349 bags of heroin that were apparently bought in Paterson, authorities said.
The passengers gave conflicting accounts of where they’d been and what they were doing, Police Chief Richard McAuliffe said, adding that officers also smelled burnt marijuana after stopping their 1999 Subaru sedan on northbound Route 208.
The driver meanwhile, “stated that he had just dropped a friend off in Paterson and was on his way to Liberty, NY,” the chief said.

A Franklin Lakes police officer who stopped to help what turned out to be a Rhode Island ex-con with his disabled car found him carrying a handgun, authorities said.

Drugged Driver Flees After Route 80 Pileup In Teterboro, Caught In Elmwood Park
UPDATE: A pickup truck driver who caused a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Route 80 in Teterboro over the weekend that seriously injured her juvenile passenger ran from the scene but was later captured in Elmwood Park, State Police said.
The Chevy pickup driven by Jaquina Sharron Davis, a 46-year-old repeat drug offender from Paterson, left the roadway and then re-entered it, crashing into a Subaru, at milepost 66 just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday, State Police Sgt. Lawrence Peele said.
