Diesel Tank Dislodges, Hits Car In Messy Crash That Closed Route 80 For Hours: Police
A Freightliner driver was hospitalized after being rear-ended by an SUV in a crash that closed a portion of Route 80 closed for several hours on Tuesday morning, Dec. 26, state police said. The crash occurred on the westbound side near milepost 22.4 in Allamuchy just before 8 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair told Daily Voice. A Chevy SUV lost control and rear-ended the tractor-trailer, causing its tank, which was carrying diesel fuel, to come loose and hit a Subaru passenger vehicle, McNair said. School Mini-Bus Catches Fire On Route 17
Paramus firefighters doused a small blaze on a school mini-bus on Route 17 late Thursday afternoon. No children were aboard the bus when the interior fire broke out on the southbound highway near Midland Avenue. The driver wasn't injured. Police also responded along with a Bergen County Hazardous Materials Unit, which cleaned up a diesel fuel spill. Boyd A. Loving took the photos and contributed to this account. : Tanker Rollover Closes Northbound Route 17 In Hasbrouck Heights
UPDATE: Northbound Route 17 remained closed indefinitely after a tanker truck struck a sedan and rolled over Monday afternoon near the Bendix Diner on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights, spilling fuel across the roadway. The 53-year-old tanker driver was taken to nearby Hackensack University Medical Center with knee pain and a cut on his finger, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri Jr. told Daily Voice. He was carrying 3,000 gallons of diesel fuel when he apparently swerved to avoid a Mercedes sedan driven by a 17-year-old Rutherford boy and struck its rear passenger side fender, the lieutenant said. …

Tractor-Trailer Pileup On Route 17N In Ho-Ho-Kus Backs Traffic For Miles
Three tractor-trailers were involved in a pileup that temporarily closed northbound Route 17 in Ho-Ho-Kus Friday morning. Traffic was backed up to Paramus after the crash near Hollywood Avenue just before 10:30 a.m. One rig jackknifed across the center and right lanes, and a significant amount of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway when a saddle tank on one of the other tractors ruptured. Tree Service Truck Tips Near BCC In Paramus
A driver escaped unscathed after a tree service truck rolled over near Bergen Community College in Paramus late Monday afternoon -- as borough firefighters and EMS were responding to a house fire three miles away. The Fair Lawn Rescue Squad and Rochelle Park firefighters responded to the mishap in front of 387 Paramus Road. A hazardous materials response unit also was summoned to attend to a diesel fuel spill.
