Body Of Canoeist Found In Ramapo River The body of a canoeist was retrieved from the Ramapo River in Mahwah early Wednesday afternoon, responders said. Mahwah police notified the New Jersey State Police and Bergen County Prosecutor's Office after the body turned up -- with a canoe nearby -- near Ramapough Indian land off Halifax Road late in the morning. He'd apparently been in the water for multiple days and may have been the victim of a boating accident, responders said. Authorities believe he's from the area. West New York Motorcyclist, 25, Killed In Meadowlands Crash UPDATE: A 25-year-old motorcyclist from West New York was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash near the Meadowlands in East Rutherford early Wednesday evening, authorities confirmed. The victim went down on the ramp from southbound Route 120 to eastbound Route 3 across from the American Dream shortly after 5 p.m., East Rutherford Deputy Police Chief Phillip Taormina said.
