With car vandals caught, Saddle Brook police seek stolen Kiss hats

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Now that Saddle Brook police have cracked the case of the Kiss vandals, they’re trying to solve the theft of two dozen wool hats that they said are the same kind that the bandits used to cover their faces.

The hats were stolen from the back of a truck parked in a secluded spot in an industrial area of town near the NJ Transit tracks.

The owner, after hearing the report of the auto body shop vandals, went to police to report the thefts.

He’d been distributing the hats as promotional items, he explained.

The hats mimic the face-painted look of Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley.

THE ORIGINAL STORY: Saddle Brook police tonight were questioning two 16-year-old boys and seeking two more who they said all wore Kiss masks while smashing more than two dozen cars on the lot of an auto body shop during a videotaped rampage. As it turned out, the masks were actually promotional knit caps with eyelet cutouts that were stolen from a van parked in an industrial part of town.
