Described as black, with a salt and pepper beard and wearing a dark hoodie, the 6-foot-5-inch bandit entered the Avenue Clothing Store at 100 Broadway around 9:15 p.m. Friday, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

He had his hand in his pocket and pointed it at the everyone in the store, indicating that he had a weapon, while demanding money from the cash register, Foligno said.

He then ordered everyone to lay on the floor and count to 100 before fleeing, the chief said.

A Bergen County Sheriff's K-9 unit traced a scent to the area of 14th Avenue and Iozia Terrace, he said.

Anyone who saw or knows something that could help find the robber is asked to call Elmwood Park police at (201) 796-0700, ext. 110.

"Callers may remain anonymous," Foligno said.
