Saddle Brook Boy, 13, Hit By Car In Front Of School

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- A student sustained head and leg injuries after he was struck in front of Saddle Brook High/Middle School just after being dismissed Thursday.

The 13-year-old 7th-grader was crossing in the middle of Mayhill Street -- about 65 yards from the crosswalk -- when he was struck by a Ford Contour, around 3:10 p.m. Police Chief Robert Kugler Daily Voice.

The force cracked the vehicle's windshield, he said.

Kugler said the boy's parents followed the ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center.

The female driver from Maywood, who witnesses said was extremely shaken up, remained at the scene. No summonses were immediately issued, the chief said.
