The PAPD desk got the call of a woman in labor in the Manhattan-bound south tube around 5:25 p.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

At the tunnel exit on 40th Street and Dyer Avenue, the driver pulled over and flagged down police.

“Her water had broken and the baby was crowning,” an officer told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “The crew urged the woman to push, and after two pushes the baby’s head was there.

“Four pushes and she was out.”

Officers Michael Principe and Stephen Corrigan “provided oxygen and comfort to the mother. while Tunnel and Bridge Senior Agent Greg Nimmo assisted with the delivery of the child,” Pentangelo said.

EMS arrived and transported the newborn and mother, a Hoboken resident, to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital.

It was Nimmo’s second Port Authority delivery, Pentangelo said.

This is the second child that Sr. Agent Nimmo delivered while working at the Port Authority.
