NJ Transit train clips car in Saddle Brook

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: No injuries were reported after an NJ Transit train clipped a van on the tracks in Saddle Brook tonight.

The Port Jervis-bound train hit the Nissan around 5:30 p.m. at the Midland Avenue grade crossing near Erie Street, New Transit’s Nancy Snyder told CLIFFVIEW PILOT, adding that NJT police were investigating the cause.

About 200 passengers were delayed briefly as the car was quickly removed, although subsequent service delays of 20 to 30 minutes were reported, Snyder said.

Unconfirmed reports were that a single occupant was in the car.

Snyder said NJ Transit police were investigating the cause.
